Split Airport: Use the Pleso Prijevoz airport shuttle to the main intercity bus station/ferry port beside the old town: about 30 minutes, roughly €8. It is the sensible choice with luggage. Budget option: Promet Bus 37, every 20–30 minutes, about 50 minutes to Sukoišan (1 km north of the harbour), roughly €3; pay by contactless card. Do not take an airport taxi unless sharing: it is around 30 minutes but commonly about €40–50 to Split.
Autobusni kolodvor Split (intercity bus station): This is the useful arrival point for Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Mostar and other intercity buses: it sits directly beside the ferry port and railway station, a short walk from Diocletian’s Palace. There is no transfer to arrange; walk west along the waterfront into the old town. Note that local buses generally use Sukoišan, about 1 km north, not this station.
Željeznički kolodvor Split (railway station): The station is next to the ferry port and intercity bus station, so central Split is walkable in minutes. Rail is worthwhile chiefly if you are already on a Croatian rail itinerary; buses are generally the more useful domestic network. There is no rail link to SPU airport.
Split passenger port / Trajektna luka Split: Ferries and catamarans from the central Dalmatian islands arrive beside the bus and rail stations. For the palace, Riva and most central hotels, walk—do not buy a transfer. In summer, arrive early for vehicle ferries and check the operator’s timetable rather than assuming every island service runs year-round.
