Malindi Airport: The sensible arrival point: it handles domestic rather than international flights, with connections via Nairobi, Mombasa and Lamu subject to airline schedules. It is a short road hop to town; take a pre-agreed taxi or tuk-tuk rather than waiting for a formal airport-transfer product. Confirm the fare before boarding.
Moi International Airport, Mombasa: Use Mombasa only if the flight price or timing is substantially better than Malindi. From Mombasa, continue by scheduled coach toward Malindi or arrange a private road transfer; allow roughly 3–4 hours in real traffic, not the optimistic map time. Pwani Tawakal and Tahmeed are among the operators listed from Mombasa; use a daytime service.
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi: Do not try to make Nairobi–Malindi an overland transfer unless you have a reason to stop en route. Fly onward to MLD; domestic services have historically connected Malindi with Nairobi. The road journey is long enough to consume most of a day.
Malindi bus stage / intercity-coach arrival: Regular coaches connect Malindi with Mombasa and Nairobi; Nairobi operators listed include Modern Coast, Dreamliner, Buscar EA and Mash Poa. For Watamu, Kilifi, Nyali and Diani, local Hakuna Matatu services are useful but slower and less predictable than a private taxi. Do not take the road route from Malindi to Lamu: fly.
