Cape Town International Airport: Uber or Bolt is the sensible default to the City Bowl: roughly 20–30 minutes outside rush hour and about R200–R400, depending on demand and destination. Book in the app and meet at the designated pickup area; ignore unmetered “official airport taxi” approaches in arrivals. The A01 MyCiTi Airport–Civic Centre bus runs about every 20 minutes and is the budget option, but it is only useful if Civic Centre is convenient for your hotel and you are comfortable transferring with luggage. There is no rail link to the airport.
Cape Town station / long-distance rail: Do not plan an intercity arrival around regular passenger rail: Shosholoza Meyl’s former long-distance links have not resumed since Covid. Cape Town station is mainly a Metrorail commuter hub. Use a pre-arranged hotel transfer, Uber or Bolt for the last leg, particularly after dark; it is not a station area in which to wander with luggage.
