No general timed-entry ticket or entry reservation is required in 2026. Pay at a Yosemite entrance station by major credit card or mobile payment, or arrive with a qualifying pass; entrance passes do not sell out. For Half Dome cables, apply in the preseason lottery March 1–31 or in the daily lottery two days ahead (applications are open midnight–4 pm Pacific time during cable season). For overnight wilderness permits, enter the weekly lottery 24 weeks ahead; remaining lottery inventory opens the following Friday, and 40% of permits open seven days ahead.
Free entry: Visitors age 15 and under enter free when entering under the Individual Entrance Pass rules. Eligible holders may receive certain federal passes free (Military, Access, and US fourth-grade passes), but eligibility requirements apply.
Sold out? Do not buy a reseller “Yosemite entry ticket”: general park entry does not sell out in 2026. For Half Dome permits, target weekdays—especially from late August onward—in the two-days-ahead lottery, and carry the permit holder or alternate’s photo ID plus confirmation. For overnight wilderness permits, switch to alternate trailheads or dates and use the seven-days-ahead release rather than relying on a same-day permit.
